Following on from my review of the Reakiro CBD oil and soft gels, I’m now taking a look at a third product in their range, the Smart Restart warming CBD gel.

If I ever needed a guilt trip to start exercising again, a review of a warming sports gel is the kick that was needed, so it’s back on the bike and lifting weights (at least for the week of testing, who knows if it will continue after).

When Should I Take It?

This product is formulated to be taken a short period before working out or performing any form of exercise.

Warming yourself up before a workout is integral to increase blood flow and allowing more oxygen into your muscles, while it can also reduce muscle soreness and help prevent an injury from occurring.

Considering my history of injuries, I’ve learned the importance of a proper warm-up as I’ve got older.

Reakiro recommends you apply 3ml onto your hands and then massage gently into the skin before exercising. If you would rather have a muscle relieving gel after your workout then they also sell a Cooling Gel on their website.

How Easily Did It Rub In?

Very easily, the texture was like a moisturiser, which is a relief as I prefer the lotions to balms, as balms tend to leave you feeling sticky.

While it felt like it rubbed into the skin quickly, it’s still worth rubbing for 20 seconds, a recommendation I received from a dermatologist in the past, to ensure it’s properly absorbed.

It’s a pump based system, while the first time you use it you will need to give it a few pumps before it starts to come out (an ironic warm-up). The pump system means you get a consistent dosage each time rather than dipping fingers in, while it also tends to be less messy.

How Was The Smell?

The smell wasn’t overly noticeable and trust me, that’s a good thing. I’ve used a number of sports gels in the past that smell overly of menthol or some other overpowering ingredient that can leave people next to you in the office looking over.

It didn’t create the ‘tingly feeling’ that some topical muscle pain gels create, which means you can carry on with your day without that distraction.

What Are The Key Ingredients Included?

Of course, the main ingredient is cannabidiol, with 500mg in the tube. The tube is 100ml, so if you were to use 3ml, you would be getting 15mg of CBD. That’s a fair amount that should hopefully help you to see the results you’re after, but if you need some more then you can apply a higher dosage.

The FSA has a recommended maximum of 70mg of CBD, however this recommendation is based on oral consumption rather than topical application, which they’re less clear on, however the general recommendation is to follow the same guidelines.

Beyond CBD, the Reakiro warming gel contains arnica montana extract, a common ingredient in topical treatments to help with join pain and wound healing. It has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, while it will help ease those muscle aches.

Another key ingredient is rosemary essential oil, which once again is brilliant at relieving muscle aches. A number of tests have shown its ability to help with cramps and sore muscles.

You will also find black pepper oil and camphor oil, which will reduce chronic muscle and joint pain, as well as spasms, plus they can help to stimulate circulation.

Where Can I Purchase This From?

You can order the Smart Restart Warming CBD Gel from their website for £29.99. The free shipping starts at £49.99, so you may want to combine your order with some Reakiro CBD oil, the ideal combination!
