My next review takes me to Mendy, a UK based hemp brand with a range of CBD products, including oils, capsules, topicals and edibles.
A member of the Cannabis Trade Association, I’ve actually known Kevin Smith for a good while, a brilliant guy who has been dedicated to offering the best CBD products on the market for years.
He’s had his fair share of sports injuries, having suffered from a spinal injury while doing Judo in 2019, while he has been able to introduce a product range which he could test out on himself.
As the Mendy slogan goes: Play hard, live easy!
Which Carrier Oil Do They Use?
Mendy have opted for MCT oil, or medium chain triglycerides, which is a medium length chain of fats derived from coconut oil.
Unlike long chain triglycerides, they’re metabolised quickly and easily broken down, so they can used as a quick source of energy, hence why many people take them before a workout.
Of course, these aren’t included to help you get a great pump, MCT is the carrier oil of choice as it will provide a greater bioavailability than many other options on the market.
When CBD is combined with a fatty source, it increases the amount that reaches your bloodstream, while protecting it from being broken down by the digestive system. You can have a read of my guide here on the different carrier oils.
What Does The Lab Report Show?
The lab report for the batch I have highlights that the sample matches the required amount of CBD highlighted on the label.
On top of this, being a broad spectrum hemp extract, there are a number of other cannabinoids present, including a decent quantity of CBG, as well as some CBDV.
Cannabidivarin, or CBDV, is growing in popularity as there are an increasing number of studies being performed on this mysterious cannabinoid, with some very intriguing results.
The CBD oil had a strong ‘weed’ scent, something I quite like (maybe I shouldn’t be admitted that, but oh well). I was very impressed personally, finding my sleep improved quite drastically after testing this out, always one of my key benchmarks when reviewing a CBD oil, as I have suffered with poor sleeping patterns throughout my life.
In the batch I’m testing, it contains 1,000mg of CBD, served in a 10ml tincture. They recommend using a fifth of a pipette, which is approximately 20mg of CBD.
Considering I like to use 40mg of CBD per day (being a veteran of the industry, I need a little more than the average user), so I opted for approximately 40% of a dropper.
If you prefer to work on a drop basis (I’m rubbish at counting how many have fallen into my mouth), then it’s worth knowing that you’ll get 5mg of CBD per drop, so you’ll need 4 drops for their recommended dosage of 20mg of CBD. Always remember to give it a little shake before using it.
Is This Vegan Friendly?
Absolutely, all of the ingredients are plant based, being 100% natural, while they’re also from non-GMO crops.
The CBD oil is delivered in a recyclable friendly and biodegradable paper based packaging around the tincture.
Where Can I Buy This From?
You can order yourself a 1,000mg bottle of broad spectrum Mendy CBD oil from their website for £44.99, while they also offer a 10% discount if you buy 2 at once.
Considering they offer free delivery on all UK orders over £50, I’d recommend keeping an eye out on my other reviews of their products soon to come out, including the Mendy CBD Gummies, which taste scrumptious!
