chocolate-and-hazelnut

I hardly ever get excited about a flavoured CBD oil anymore, I’ve tried virtually every flavour there is, but I have to admit I did feel like a child in a sweet shop when this one arrived!

I tried the Cheerful Buddha CBD Coffee back in September 2019 and I remembered being wowed by the taste, so that left me eager to try more from their range.

How Did It Taste?

Like I was naughtily tucking into some Nutella (hey, it’s almost Christmas, maybe I will). The taste matched the aroma, tasting like a creamy chocolate hazelnut flavour, they’ve got this spot on for flavour.

Of course, tasting so good, you have to stop yourself from swallowing too early or pouring too much.

I also have to give a shout-out, my other half Raquel tries all the CBD oil’s I receive and she deeply fell in love with this one, it was hard to get it back from her! Needless to say, this passes the taste test.

How Strong Is It?

The drops I’ve been sent are 5%, in a 10ml tincture, meaning you get 500mg of CBD. They also offer this as 3% and 10%, so you can pick the strength to suit you.

The lab test highlights that it met this quantity of CBD, as well as a small portion of CBDV.

Who Are Cheerful Buddha?

This UK based brand was launched in 2019 with the focus on utilising healthy and natural ingredients, infused into foods and drinks we all love.

Not big fans of the taste of CBD (not many people are), they wanted to find ways to consume CBD on a daily basis while still enjoying the experience.

Having your morning cuppa while enjoying the experience of CBD seemed both logical, yet innovative.

CBD oils can be quite intense tasting at times, therefore by opting for a chocolate and hazelnut flavour, they knew it would please even the most fussy taster.

What Carrier Oil Do They Use?

The CBD is accompanied by MCT oil, derived from coconuts, known to be the best carrier oil for CBD due to its ability to increase the bioavailability after consumption, delivering it into the bloodstream.

Medium chain triglycerides have the added benefit of providing you with a small boost of energy (I tend to take some before a workout), while as they are a shorter chain to long-chain triglycerides, it means they’re rapidly broken down and absorbed, preventing it from being stored as fat.

How Long Will This Last Me?

If you were to consume around 20mg of CBD per day, then this tincture would last 25 days.

Everyone’s required dosage is different, depending on your tolerance levels and reasons for taking CBD, while I tend to take 40mg of CBD as I have a higher tolerance level, however you should always make sure to have a maximum of 70mg, the recommended top level by the Food Standards Agency.

You should start low and build up based on your personal requirements, remember a dosage that works for one person won’t necessarily be right for you.

In regards to the best before date, the tincture I’ve received has 18 months until it passes this date.

Where Can I Order This From?

You can pick up a Cheerful Buddha chocolate and hazelnut CBD oil from their website for £29.95. They offer free shipping on orders over £40, so you may want to top up your basket with their Maluka Gold CBD Chocolate, which I will be reviewing very soon.

Being based in Brighton, I have directly witnessed the CBD industry grow and prosper, albeit witnessing the difficulties around legislation and the lack of transparency. I therefore decided to become a neutral viewpoint offering genuine reviews, advice and guidance.
