satipharm-active

This is the first of two products I’ll be reviewing by this health and wellbeing brand that launched in 2015.

Satipharm have four different capsules, being Active, Focus, Essential and High Strength, with their names hinting towards their choice of ingredients and reason for taking.

I’ll be reviewing the Active first and will be following this up with Focus very soon, so make sure to keep an eye out for that review.

What Does Active Contain?

Each Satipharm Active Advanced capsule contains 10mg of CBD, along with a number of vitamins.

The capsule has 400ug of Vitamin A, which is 50% of your recommended daily intake, along with 10ug of Vitamin D, being 200% of your RDI, 12mg of Vitamin E which is 100% and 40ug of Vitamin K, which is 53%.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t obtain the certificate of analysis, something I always require before posting to ensure they have the stated cannabinoid profile and to check for the presence of heavy metals or pesticides. I therefore cannot confirm or deny around these factors.

However, I decided to press ahead as the CoA’s were recently reviewed and certified by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA), the body which regulates all medicines in the country.

This is because Satipharm’s capsule products are available on prescription in Australia, demonstrating the credibility and validity of it products.

I had a chance to look at the Australian Government results of the examination, which gave me an added feel of trust.

The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has also reviewed and validated the company’s products as part of the dossier which had to be completed earlier this year.

What Is The Gelpell Technology?

The ingredients are contained within a gelatine bead, while the bead is also placed inside a gastro resistant capsule.

This means that it can withstand the stomach acid attacking the capsule, in the gastric system. These enteric coatings are provided to stop it being absorbed in the stomach and allowing it to move to the intestines.

The registered trademark Gelpell technology helps to protect CBD from the effects of heat, light and oxidation, which can tarnish the purity of CBD and change its structure.

Why Opt For A Capsule?

When dropping CBD oil under the tongue, it can sometimes be hard to get an accurate dosage, as you count the drops falling into your mouth, whereas capsules offer a precise dosage of CBD.

One reason why capsules have previously been an unpopular choice is because they’re broken down in the stomach and then a fair portion of the CBD goes to waste as the body struggles to absorb the cannabidiol.

However, this is why Satipharm invested time into the previously discussed Gelpell technology, in order to deliver a high quality product that is clinically tested for bioavailability, which they claim is showing results 3.5 times better than CBD oils, the most common consumption method.

How Big Are They?

The capsule was 2mm long and 0.5mm wide, however they still went easily down with some yogurt or water.

The appearance was quite different to what I initially expected, with the microspheres appearing like little black and red balls, much like a Muller fruit corner I used to eat when I was young (completely off-topic rambling).

Why Is This Product Called Active?

The vitamins included are targeted to support muscle function, a healthy immune system and to tackle oxidative stress.

We commonly don’t get enough Vitamin D during the latter half of the year, as we absorb Vitamin D from sun exposure, needing around 20 minutes in the sunlight each day, however with our busy lives and office jobs, it can be hard to soak up the rays.

Vitamin D can help to keep your muscles healthy, as well as your teeth and bones, regulating the absorption of phosphorus and calcium.

Of course, the issue with getting in the sun is the damage to our skin, however Vitamin A can help to prevent sun damage and stop collagen levels being damaged in the skin.

On top of this, Vitamin A can boost your immune system and protect your eyes. Vitamin K will help your bones to stay strong, while Vitamin E is packed full of antioxidants, which will fight off free radicals.

Where Can I Buy This From?

You can order yourself a pack of 30 Satipharm Active Advanced CBD Capsules for £44.49 from their website. They offer free shipping on orders over £50, so you may want to combine this with one of the other capsules, or they also sell CBD oil.

Being based in Brighton, I have directly witnessed the CBD industry grow and prosper, albeit witnessing the difficulties around legislation and the lack of transparency. I therefore decided to become a neutral viewpoint offering genuine reviews, advice and guidance.
