I will be testing out three products by Medterra over the next few weeks, while I’m starting off with the Medterra CBG + CBD oil, as I’m a big fan of cannabigerol and I couldn’t stop myself.
If you’re unfamiliar with CBG, this is a cannabinoid derived from the cannabis plant. It’s the non-acidic version of CBGA, which is seen as the ‘mother’ of all cannabinoids.
CBG has been showing increasingly intriguing results in multiple studies, yet it is found in relatively low quantities in most strains of hemp, making it harder to produce CBG oil at an affordable price.
You’ll normally find a little bit of CBG present in your broad or full spectrum CBD oil, but the quantity will be drastically lower than this product, which provides 500mg in the tincture.
The Dropper
How are we almost in 2022 and I’m still highlighting this. All droppers should ideally have measurement markings on them, making our lives easier with dosage application, something Medterra have in place and I love them for.
I have tested somewhere North of 300 CBD oil’s and I would say less than 10% come with a dropper with measurement marks on them. So credit where it’s due, Medterra have provided something that makes their customer’s lives easier.
The Flavour
They only offer one flavour with this product, being citrus, which I always find a bit of an ambiguous flavour, as it could taste of grapefruit, lemons, lime or orange and all would be an acceptable flavours with that label.
The taste was closer to lemons, while it was very sweet, much like a lemon drizzle cake (mmmmm). Honestly, I would put this up there as one of the better tasting CBD oils I’ve had, making it tempting to go for a few more drops than I should.
Just remember not to swallow too quick, you want to hold it under your tongue for 1-2 minutes before swallowing the liquid, so it can be absorbed into your bloodstream.
Quantity Of Cannabinoids
This is exactly what it says on the tin, the lab report highlights that it contains CBD and CBG and it doesn’t seem to contain any other form of cannabinoid.
It states on the front 1,000mg, while they mean 500mg of each CBD and CBG in a 1:1 ratio.
They’ve also put their money where their mouth is and paid for the certificate of analysis to cover whether there are any pesticides, heavy metals or microbials present. There aren’t any.
So why did I mention the money? I’ve spoken to a number of CBD brands who haven’t included the pesticide test and after asking why, they stated that this was an extra cost and they wanted to avoid spending the extra money.
The issue with this is that hemp is highly porous, meaning it soaks everything up. If the hemp isn’t grown organically and they use pesticides, this would most likely pass through to the oil when extracted, therefore it is important to check the lab report for pesticides and heavy metals.

How Much Do You Take?
Being an American brand, this comes in a 30ml tincture, something to highlight if anyone in Europe is reading this as we generally have 10ml tinctures over here.
This doesn’t mean you get a higher or lower quantity of CBD or CBG within the tincture, the amount you get is clearly stated on the front, but it changes how much liquid you need to drop in your mouth to get the right dosage.
A full 1ml dropper will provide you with 16mg of CBD and 16mg of CBG. I wanted around 40mg of each, 45 minutes before bed, therefore I opted for 2.5ml of liquid each evening during testing.
