I was really excited about trying these as I love a CBD gummy or five! Rather than my usual evening routine, I switched these to the morning as I didn’t want to have sugar straight before bed. I took 2 at once each morning, while having to force myself not to keep snacking on more.
How Much CBD Do You Get?
A pack contains 600mg of CBD, while there are 30 gummies, meaning 20mg of CBD per gummy. This is certainly on the top end, with most gummies by various brands having between 5-20mg of CBD per gummy.
You can find the lab reports by looking at the batch test code on the sticker on the base. They also state their bears are completely THC free, which is useful for anyone who is drug tested.
Beyond CBD, the lab reports also show that there is a presence of CBG, and to a more minor level, a small amount of CBN and CBC. The combination of cannabinoids present in the gummies work together in synergy in what is known as the entourage effect.
They recommend taking 1-2 gummies per day, being between 20-40mg of CBD per day. The max recommended in a day is 70mg, so you shouldn’t go over 3 gummies (or 3.5 if you wanted to break one in half).

The guidance on how to consume these is to chew or suck the gummy, but I’d like to put forward one recommendation whenever I review gummies, in that you still want to hold it under the tongue for a couple of minutes. The gummy bears are covered in a pharmaceutical coating of CBD on the outer layer, so holding it under your tongue for a couple of minutes should help you to absorb a greater level than just chewing and swallowing (obviously, you chew and swallow after this point).
How Do They Taste?
They have a selection of flavours, including sour cherry, raspberry, elderflower, lemon and orange. My favourite flavour was probably the orange, being the sweetest of them all and teasing my sweet tooth.
They taste great, although having sugar in them means I’d recommend swigging some water afterwards just to protect your teeth.
Are These Vegan Friendly?
Yes they are, this is an important consideration if you’re on a plant based diet, as most jelly based sweets contain gelatine, however Zen Bears use pectin, a popular alternative which is normally derived from apple pomace or citrus peels.
I really liked the fact that the bears arrived in a recyclable glass container rather than in a plastic tub like most gummy brands. They also use a metal lid rather than a plastic one, little brownie points here!
