PhenoLife is a Slovenian based brand who aim to introduce a number of high quality natural solutions to the market, focusing on non-intoxicating compounds from the hemp plant, the chief cannabinoid being CBD.
Selling a number of products, from patches to a relief cream, I’m testing out the PhenoPen, the most popular product by the brand.
What Does The Starter Kit Contain?
Firstly, the main component of the kit is the PhenoPen itself, being the inhalation device which is pre-charged so you can use it as soon as it arrives.
The device vibrates when you’re using it, while it has a charging point at the base, connecting the battery pack with built-in haptic kinaesthetic technology.
The kit also includes 1 hemp extract cartridge, as well as a charging cable at the bottom of the pack.
How Long Does The Battery Last?
I’m honestly not sure, as it was still running by the end of me trialling and testing the product, so it certainly has a decent battery life.
If however it does run out, the kit can easily be charged, while the cable is USB, meaning you can easily attach it to your laptop to give it a charge.
How Much CBD Do You Get From The Cartridge?
The cartridge contains 500mg of hemp extract, with a combined 350mg of CBD and CBDV.
Quite interestingly, the most common terpene present was Bisabolol, a floral scented terpene with anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties commonly found in chamomile.
Each puff should contain approximately 1-2mg of CBD. Going with that top amount to be safe, I wanted 40mg of CBD before bed, therefore I had 20 puffs during testing.
Of course, I’d recommend starting with a lower dosage than this if you’re starting out with CBD. Take a minute after the first puff to see how your body reacts before taking another.
How Easy Is It To Setup?
It is beyond easy, you simply place the cartridge into the top of the PhenoPen, at which point you will see the green light switch on for a second on the pen, to indicate it’s recognised. The green light will also help you to know it’s charged.
There really is nothing else to do, as soon as you’ve put in the cartridge, you can give it a puff and it will work straight away.
I found it fascinating how firmly the cartridge stayed in, as it didn’t connect onto anything, so I had a quick look on the website and it instantly made sense once I read the PhenoPen has built-in magnets which hold it in place.
How Expensive Is It To Top Up?
Once you’ve finished the cartridge that is included in the starter kit, you can order a new one for £29 on the website. Or you can order four at once for £99, saving you £17.
You should get approximately 300 small/medium puffs from a single cartridge, therefore once you know how many puffs you’re taking per day, you can work out how long it is until you will need to top up again. 10 puffs per day would work out as a clean month’s worth.
