After an extended break, I’m delighted to be back reviewing healthy products again, while I’m also deviating a little from purely CBD goods, to look at health from a more holistic view, embracing everything from dental health to your gut microbiome.
This week I’ve been experimenting with a daily dose of the Super Greens Powder by Cbdiablo. Positioned as a comprehensive daily supplement and an alternative to Athletic Greens AG1, it is packed with adaptogens, nootropics, and essential vitamins and minerals.
First Impressions
I hadn’t realised quite how many ingredients were packed into this supplement. Normally, if I spot lots of ingredients, I get worried, as you have to look out for emulsifiers, sweeteners and E-numbers, but this was chockablock full of ingredients which can help your gut health & digestion.
I liked the fact that you just get 0.4g of sugars in a 10g serving. The packaging was sturdy, meaning no worries about it leaking or breaking on delivery. Have a watch of my Instagram reel to see my initial impressions on camera.
What’s in the Formula?
CBDiablo has crafted a product with an impressive array of ingredients, each chosen for its specific benefits. Unlike many super green powders that offer minimal amounts of active ingredients (you do have to be careful to check), this formula contains substantial doses of 24 key components. Its primary ingredients include:
- Organic Superfoods: Spirulina, wheatgrass, moringa leaf powder, barley grass, and chlorella, which support gut health, detoxification, and provide antioxidant protection.
- Adaptogenic Mushrooms: Reishi, chaga, and lion’s mane, which are known to reduce stress and improve cognitive function.
- Nootropics: Bacopa monnieri and green tea extract, included to enhance focus and mental clarity.
- Essential Vitamins and Minerals: Magnesium, vitamin B, CoQ10, and vitamin D3, all of which contribute to energy levels, immune health, and overall vitality.
The powder is intentionally unflavoured, with the brand prioritising effectiveness over taste. While some may prefer sweeter, flavoured options, CBDiablo has chosen to avoid added sugars or artificial additives that could compromise the formula’s efficacy.
I’ve become more aware of added sugar in things I’m buying, so this is pivotal on a personal level to ensure it’s not actually creating more damage than good.
I loved the fact that so many of the ingredients were organic, meaning they wouldn’t have utilised pesticides or chemical fertilisers, which do carry on through after extraction into the human body.
Fibre Intake
In our Western diets, we severely lack fibre, but this isn’t spoken about enough. We should be getting around 30 grams according to most national sources, while the average person in the UK eats around 18g, 40% off target.
This can have huge effects on our health, therefore you should assess whether you’re getting enough naturally in your diet, plus you can utilise healthy supplements such as this. It might not be the core focus of this product, but you get a good 3.2g in a 10g serving, getting you just over 10% closer to your target. If you were only getting 18g, then this would be a 17% increase. Interestingly, Doctor Tim Spector said that a 15% increase in your fibre intake could drastically improve your chances against various ailments.
How and Why to Use It
The recommended serving is one heaped tablespoon (approximately 10g) daily. For the best results, it is suggested to take the powder in the morning, as its combination of nutrients is designed to support the body and mind throughout the day, or alternatively after a workout. I’ve stopped taking smoothies and shakes, as I want all my fruit & veg in a whole form, so I opted to simply mix it with water and swallow it straight down.
The benefits of this product are broad and cater to different needs, including:
- Enhanced digestion and gut health through fibre and prebiotic-rich ingredients such as inulin.
- Improved energy levels and focus, supported by nootropics like bacopa monnieri and adaptogens such as guarana.
- Strengthened immune function with key nutrients like vitamin C and vitamin D3.
- Better muscle recovery, thanks to magnesium and plant-based amino acids.
Remember To Refrigerate
I thought it was worth highlighting, for anyone reading this who might be about to purchase the Daemon Power Super Greens, once you’ve opened the pack, you need to refrigerate the pack. I didn’t initially notice this, while I don’t want the ingredients to diminish in potency, so wanted to share this with you.
My Personal Experience
Firstly, I have to talk about the taste. There was no flavour at all and I say that in a positive way. I remember having a super green powder (from a protein brand I won’t mention) and it tasted horrific. So when I say it didn’t taste of anything, I mean that in a relieved way. I mean there is a subtle grassy taste and scent, but mixed into a glass of water, you can barely notice it, just down the hatch and on with your day.
They also don’t pack it full of sugars to make it flavoursome, something I appreciate as I’m looking to cut down on my added sugar intake, as well as sweeteners which I’m finding in everything.
The powder was ‘powder thin’, which sounds obvious, but you may find it clumpty or not powdered properly if made cheaply. It also blended into the water very quickly after a few stirs of the spoon.
I mixed it up, testing the Super Greens first thing in the morning alongside my breakfast, or alternatively after a workout on days where I trained. I do tend to find my mental focuses drifts around 3pm onwards, but I remained motivated all the way till around 5-6pm each day. Whether that’s a direct correlation or not who knows, but it is certainly interesting that I got a lot more achieved than I expected over the testing period.
I don’t personally suffer with any bloating issues (fortunately), but I have been trying to up my fibre intake, as mentioned earlier, so this was great to easily add an extra 3.2 grams, alongside eating around 10 portions of vegetables per day.
