Moving onto the topical range by Naturecan, I’ve started out with 1 of the four balms sent over, being the arnica cream with witch hazel. I’ve got a slightly damaged arm, so this is a perfect opportunity to test it out and see how well it manages to soothe my injury.

How Much CBD Do You Get?

Packed into this 30ml pot is 300mg of CBD. I rubbed what I perceive to be around 1.5ml at a time, which would work out as 15mg of CBD, which was enough to apply a thin layer over the area I wanted to focus on.

How Do I Apply it?

You just rub a small layer onto the area you want to focus on. It states you apply it directly to dry skin, however I did give the area a quick wash and dry before applying. I would also recommend rubbing it in in a circular motion for a good 10 seconds, to ensure it is properly absorbed into the skin.

If you’ve literally just finished your workout, you might want to wait a few minutes before applying the balm. This is because you don’t want to be too hot when it’s applied, while if you’re sweating it could lose some of the balm.

You also might want to wait until you’ve got out of the shower before applying it, so the skin is completely clean.

Some muscle rubs include diclofenac, which many people are allergic to, therefore it is always important to check for this ingredient if you are allergic to it, however it wasn’t present in this arnica cream (according to their ingredients breakdown). Diclofenac is an anti-inflammatory ingredient which helps to reduce pain for some people.

Why Use Arnica Cream?

Arnica has long been used to help treat pain and swelling, hence why it has become commonplace in muscle balms.

Whether it’s a hard workout and you’re hoping to avoid delayed onset muscle soreness, or you’ve got a sprain you’re hoping to recover quicker, arnica is a herb that can help reduce inflammation and ease bruising.

One added point I wasn’t previously aware of was that arnica can actually be used for insect bites, or even for sunburn.

Why Use Witch Hazel?

I first heard of witch hazel years ago, when I had injured my shoulder and someone said I should make a homemade mix of witch hazel, olive oil, water and alcohol and then rub it into the skin. Of course, I didn’t bother with that, I just went out and bought something with witch hazel in, as I didn’t trust myself to get the proportions right!

Just like arnica, witch hazel is often used in muscle balms and lotions and helps to ease muscle soreness. It’s also a useful tool in helping with sore joints or to reduce swelling.

This natural ingredient works well with the CBD and arnica to provide a vegan friendly natural remedy for pain relief.

Where Can I Buy This From?

You can purchase the Naturecan Arnica Cream with Witch Hazel from their website for £12.99, with one size option available (30ml).
