With January around the corner, there will be a lot more workouts and cardio sessions coming my way, meaning a muscle recovery cream sounds like an absolute life saver right now.
This is the second product I’m testing out by Ardoa, following the Indigo66 CBD Oil, coming in a remarkably large 100ml tincture. So if you’re interested in a cream that can potentially help with aches and pains, read on to learn more.
What Is In The Ingredients?
Some of the key ingredients are Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Helianthus Annus Seed Oil, hemp seed oil, apricot extract, shea butter, arnica extract and horsetail extract, amongst the long list on the back of the packaging.
How Easily Does It Spread?
Really easily, as you would expect with a cream. In the CBD industry, many brands label their products incorrectly, calling them a cream when they’re really a balm, which is much harder to spread, however this is most certainly a cream and the addition of shea butter makes it a nice solution to spread into the skin.
How Does It Smell?
It has a very subtle scent, so it isn’t overwhelming, as some have been that I’ve tried in the past.
The strongest scent, albeit a soft scent, seemed to be the Mentha Piperita Oil (peppermint oil). There is also a presence of parfum in the list of ingredients.
What Is Horsetail?
Horsetail, or equisetum arvense extract as it is labelled on the ingredients, is a herbal remedy that has been used throughout history to treat wounds.
Warriors from both ancient Greece and Romans would apply this after battle to help shorten the recovery time.
What Are The Janey Loves Platinum Awards?
Janey Lee Grace is a TV and radio personality, known for her late night show on Virgin Radio, as well as regularly being on BBC Radio 2.
Janey ran the Janey Loves 2021 Platinum Awards recently, with judges including herself, Jo Wood, Carrie Grant, Dr Marilyn Glenville and Glynis Barber, looking at a number of beauty products, such as serums, toners, cleansers, exfoliators and face masks.
Ardoa Organics are the proud winners in the Innovative Body Care section, for the Teal22 muscle recovery cream, testament to the hard work they’ve put into the formulation of this skincare product.
Why Include Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice?
Aloe leaf juice is a common ingredient in cosmetics, which often proves very useful with reducing any itchiness the cosmetic product may cause the skin.
The anti-inflammatory properties present in aloe leaf juice can help to keep the skin hydrated, while it’s also packed full of antioxidants.
Why Include Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil?
You’ll more commonly know this as sunflower oil, which is high in oleic acid and linoleic acid, as well as Vitamin E.
Sunflower oil is a great ingredient to include as it can help to reduce any stress to the skin, remove dead skin cells and both soothe and protect the skin. You’ll often find this ingredient in make-up removers due to its ability to moisturise and cleanse the skin.
How Long Will This Tub Last?
It depends on how commonly you apply it. I applied it after getting out of the shower/bath from my workouts, which are four times per week.
The tub is 50ml, while I’d say I used around 5% of it, being 2.5ml, meaning for me it should last around 5 weeks.
They recommend applying generously, however it all depends on the area you’re treating how much you should use and how bad the issue is. Make sure to rub in a circular motion until it has sufficiently been absorbed into the skin.
How Does Arnica Help?
Arnica Montana extract, much like the other ingredients included, has been shown in numerous studies to help with wound healing and pain relief, hence why it is such an important inclusion for this product.
The anti-inflammatory properties can help to speed up recovery, as well as reducing DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness from a workout).
Where Can I Buy This From?
