Why Include Turmeric?
To say this is a healthy spice is an understatement! It is an ever-present ingredient in traditional medicines and for good reason. The anti-inflammatory properties in the curcumin will help you to fight off chronic inflammation, which is linked to plenty of health issues. It can also help protect you against heart disease by improving endothelial function.
Turmeric is also packed full of antioxidants which will help to fight off free radicals, which cause ageing and damage in the body. But as an added bonus, curcumin also helps to spike the activity and liveliness of the antioxidant enzymes in the body, meaning even more enhanced results.
As we get older, we tend to see decreased levels of brain derived neurotrophic factor, which is a growth hormone in your brain, and with decreasing numbers comes brain disorders. However, curcumin has quite remarkably been shown to increase brain levels, something scientists didn’t previously think was possible after being a child.
One important reminder is that curcumin is fat soluble, meaning just like CBD, it requires a fatty acid to increase the absorption rate, however this is handled with the inclusion of hemp seed oil as a carrier.
Why Does This Product Contain Black Pepper?
No, it’s not for the flavour. As much as I’ve highlighted the health benefits of curcumin, at which point I could fill this entire article with added points, the absorption rate on its own is actually very poor. However, when combined with piperine (black pepper), it increases the absorption rate by 2,000%! This means you are ensured all the health benefits without it all being removed by the body as waste. With any turmeric based supplement, you should always verify it is served with black pepper.
How Much CBD Do You Get?
The bottle I have contains 500mg of CBD. It’s a full spectrum CBD oil, meaning you can benefit from the entourage effect, with the cannabinoids working in synergy with each other.
The bottle is 10ml, while they recommend you use half a pipette on a single dose (1/2 a ml) coming to 25mg of CBD. Just to verify, this dose will also contain 23.75mg of turmeric and 1.25mg of bioperine.
As always, make sure to drop it under your tongue for sublingual consumption and hold it there for 1.5-2 minutes rather than the usual recommendation of 20 seconds, as this will help to increase the absorption rate, before eventually swallowing the rest.
