I first tried out a Naturecan product back two and a half years ago and if you hadn’t heard of them then, it wouldn’t be too surprising, but they’ve since grown to be one of the biggest CBD brands in the country.
Of course, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, launched by Andy Duckworth, the former CEO of MyProtein, who has a track record of revenue growth, something he has certainly achieved with Naturecan, as they look towards breaking into the US, Asian and Western European market.
Over the past week, I’ve been testing out the 30% CBD oil by Naturecan, one of the strongest options they have in their range, so read on to find out more and don’t hesitate to get in contact if you have any questions.
What Spectrum Is The Oil?
While most of the market has gone towards isolate (not out of choice, you have the FSA to thank for that), Naturecan are still providing a broad spectrum, something relatively hard to find nowadays with UK products.
This means that you will get other cannabinoids present in your oil, as an isolate is just that, purely CBD extracted from hemp. Of course, it’s not a full spectrum oil (the dream for one day in the future in the UK), with THC levels being limited.
This broad spectrum contains the stated dosage of cannabidiol, highlighted in the certificate of analysis, while it also has some CBG, plus a small amount of CBDV, THCV, CBN, CBC and a minute amount of THC.
You can find the certificates of analysis for each product on their website, while you can match up the batch code on your product labelling with the pertinent lab report, so you know exactly what you’re getting in the tin.
How Much Do You Take?
This is a 30% CBD oil, however the percentage doesn’t translate how much you’re getting until you know the size of the tincture. This is a 30ml bottle, meaning it contains 9,000mg of CBD, whereas if you ordered the 30% CBD oil in a 10ml tincture, it would be 3,000mg of CBD.
The concentration levels remain consistent, it’s just the quantity of oil you want to purchase. Of course, buying the bigger bottle means you benefit from economies of scale, with the price much less than triple.
A single drop would provide you with 12.5mg of CBD. For most people starting out, 20mg of CBD is a common quantity to take, so you’d need around 2 drops.
The FSA recommends going no higher than 70mg of CBD within a 24 hour period, while 5 drops would provide you with 62.5mg of CBD.
I went for 5 drops during testing, most of the time taking it as one dosage right before bed, but occasionally taking it spread throughout the day with micro-dosages, for the days where I had stressful presentations and meetings.
My one negative would be that there were no measurement markings on the dropper, as I’m a little useless at counting drops and often prefer to pour a precise amount, e.g. 0.5ml of a dropper. However, at this high strength level, you only really need a few drops, so not such an issue.
While I can’t legally go into any potential benefit, I can personally say I slept like a baby over the past week, leaving me relieved with a hectic week of tasks and 10 hour working days.
The Taste
I often feel reluctant to mention the taste, as this shouldn’t be a deciding factor on whether you opt for a product or not, however for the majority of people I talk to about different CBD products, the most common question is how it tastes.
The issue is that some broad or full spectrum oils can be a little overwhelming for some. Well, I can reassure you that this was actually very pleasant for an unflavoured broad spectrum CBD oil. The dominating taste was coconuts, from the medium chain triglycerides, which work as the carrier oil to increase bioavailability after consumption.
